a) Walk Only BEGINNERS ~ class is for riders who are not ready to do any other gait than normal walk
b) Walk Only OPEN ~ to be judged at a Normal Walk, Collected Walk, and an Extended Walk

The walk should be a four-beat gait: straight, true and flat-footed.

a. Normal walk: Regular and unconstrained, moving energetically and calmly forward.

b. Collected walk: Strides are shorter and higher than at the normal walk. The head approaches the vertical, but should never move behind it. Pacing is a serious fault.

c. Extended walk: The horse is allowed to lengthen frame and stride while the rider maintains light rein contact. The horse should cover as much ground as possible without rushing.
